The Alberta Skeet Shooting Association (ASSA) was formed in 1980, by a group of enthusiastic skeet competitors throughout Alberta . 

 The objectives of the ASSA are to promote and encourage the North American style of skeet shooting and:  

• To be the sole governing or delegating body for the sport in Alberta
• To ensure representation of provincial skeet shooting interests nationally and internationally
• To relate to the Canadian Shooting Federation, Canadian Skeet Shooting Association, National Skeet Shooting Association, Alberta Federation of Shooting Sports and other appropriate bodies as necessary.
